The single-player game set in the Star Citizen universe will not come out in 2026. In a letter published at the end of August, Chris Roberts pushed Squadron 42 back to the second quarter of 2027.
The reason given: the release of GTA VI in November, which would soak up the attention of media and creators, even without a PC version. Until then, the release had been aimed at the end of 2026.
Early backers and content creators were invited to try the game on 9 and 10 October. The final release date is due to be announced shortly afterwards.
