On October 14, Ubisoft proposed closing RedLynx, its Helsinki studio known for the Trials series. According to the statement it gave GamesIndustry.biz, the plan is a proposal subject to the consultation process required under Finnish law, and up to 52 roles could be affected. The studio has no project in the works.
At Ubisoft Singapore, 70 positions are being cut “to align the studio with upcoming production needs,” roughly a fifth of its 350 or so employees. The studio itself stays open. Some outlets report 72; we’re going with Ubisoft’s number.
Ubisoft bought RedLynx in 2011 after the success of Trials HD on Xbox Live Arcade. The latest game, Trials Rising, came out in 2019. This time, the gravity-defying bikes may not land on their wheels.
