Star Citizen lore: outlaws and independents (Nine Tails, XenoThreat, Pyro, Levski)

Beyond the UEE’s law, the universe teems with pirates, gangs and communities that chose to live their own way. Here are the ones you’ll run into most often.

Pyro, the lawless system

  • Claimed in 2493 by Pyrotechnic Amalgamated for its mines, Pyro was never formally brought into the UEE. The company went bankrupt in 2563, and its abandoned facilities drew outlaws.
  • No central authority: rival gangs carve up the stations. The rule? “Whoever has the most guns wins.”
  • Rough & Ready controls several stations (including Checkmate and Orbituary), Citizens for Prosperity holds others, and gangs like the Headhunters have made it their home.

XenoThreat, the xenophobic terrorists

  • A human group that is anti-alien, anti-corporate and revolutionary.
  • In 2947, it seized Ruin Station, making it Pyro’s de facto ruler.
  • In February 2951, it launched an incursion into Stanton and attacked the Navy fleet, before being pushed back to Pyro.

The Nine Tails

  • Stanton’s most famous pirate gang, recognizable by its red and black colors. It operates from Grim HEX and several forward bases.
  • They regularly shut down comm relays and attack transports.
  • In 2952, they launched the Siege of Orison and attacked civilians. The siege has become a playable group mission.

The People’s Alliance of Levski

  • An independent human community founded in 2655, under the Messer dictatorship, by opponents of the regime. Its motto: “Stronger together.”
  • Settled in an old mine on the asteroid Delamar, in the Nyx system, it built Levski, a haven for refugees and free thinkers.
  • With its ideals partly fulfilled by the return of democracy, it is now looking for a new purpose.
