Star Citizen lore: Stanton and its four megacorporations

Stanton, the system where most players’ adventure begins, has a unique feature: its four planets belong to private companies.

A system for sale

  • 2851: Toshi Aaron discovers Stanton, immediately claimed by the UEE. The Navy builds shipyards there.
  • 2865: to refill its coffers, the Senate sells the four planets to four industrial giants. Each becomes its owner’s domain, with its own rules and security.

The four owners

  • Hurston Dynamics (planet Hurston, city of Lorville): an arms manufacturer run by the Hurston family, known for harsh working conditions and a polluted planet.
  • Crusader Industries (gas giant Crusader, floating city of Orison): a shipbuilder founded in 2799, whose platforms float in the clouds.
  • ArcCorp (planet ArcCorp, city of Area18): founded in 2687, it covered its entire planet with buildings.
  • microTech (icy planet microTech, city of New Babbage): a tech giant, the company behind the mobiGlas.

What it means in game

  • Each planet has its own security and its own employers: your reputation matters with each of them.
  • The cities reflect their owners: Lorville’s heavy industry, Orison’s airborne luxury, Area18’s density, New Babbage’s icy modernity.
  • Orbital and Lagrange point stations complete this trade network at the heart of the system.

What’s your favorite starting city? And why?
