Scrape wreck hulls into recycled material (RMC), then sell it.

Salvage is about recovering material from wrecks: you scrape the hull with salvage beams, the material becomes RMC (Recycled Material Composite) stored in boxes, which you then sell. It is a calm, low-risk and very profitable activity with a solo Vulture or a crewed Reclaimer.

Wrecks come from salvage contracts or fights. You can also strip some components to sell them.

🔑 Requirements

  • A salvage ship (Vulture, Reclaimer) or a salvage multitool
  • Salvage contracts or a wreck you found
  • No reputation to start
  • A buyer for RMC

🚀 Recommended ships

🧰 Recommended equipment

  • Suitable salvage heads
  • A tractor beam to move boxes
  • An empty hold for RMC
  • A scanner to find wrecks

🧭 Steps

  1. Find a wreck : Take a salvage contract in your mobiGlas or spot a wreck on scan.
  2. Line up : Get within beam range and hold the ship steady facing the hull.
  3. Scrape the hull : Turn on the salvage beams and sweep the surface to turn the hull into RMC.
  4. Store : RMC fills boxes in the hold; empty full boxes if needed.
  5. Strip : Remove useful components from the wreck with your multitool to sell them.
  6. Sell : Sell RMC and components at the terminal with the best price.

💡 Advanced tips

  • Widen the beams to cover more surface
  • Big wrecks pay much more
  • Chain several contracts in the same area
  • In a Reclaimer, one crew on beams and one on tractor
  • RMC is also used in crafting

⚠️ Common mistakes

  • Scraping with a full hold
  • Forgetting strippable components
  • Staying too long in a pirate area
  • Selling at the first terminal without comparing

☠️ Risks

  • Pirates drawn to wrecks
  • Unstable wreck or collision
  • Ship destroyed with the RMC cargo
  • A contract wreck in a dangerous area

💰 Profitability

Very good for a low risk. A solo Vulture is one of the best risk/reward ratios in the game.
