FTSC × Beacon Mag: two community creations become one

Two projects born in the Star Citizen community are now one: the FTSC is merging with Beacon Mag. On one side, a volunteer training and support centre that comes to the rescue of pilots in distress. On the other, an independent magazine that informs, explains and brings people together. Two entities, one motto: by the community, for the community.

And so that help is never far away, an SOS button now sits on the Beacon Mag home page.

What is the FTSC?

The FTSC (Francophone Training and Support Center) is neither a corp nor a pilots’ organisation: it is a support and training centre, free and volunteer-run. You can belong to any player group and join it as a volunteer, trainer, student or simply a citizen.

• Coming to the rescue: search and rescue, medical care, mechanical assistance, escorts, inspection and clearing of sensitive crash sites.
• Training: guiding new pilots, helping them find the play style that suits them among 21 RPs (military, bounty hunter, miner, doctor, journalist…), then the right organisation.
• A crew: trainers, rescuers, technicians, security and a council that keeps the centre running smoothly.

Why this merger

The FTSC is JakeCook’s very first creation for the Star Citizen community, even before Beacon Mag. Both projects have always shared the same passion and the same audience: it was time for them to move forward together.

They complement each other naturally. On the Beacon Mag forum, the Star Citizen hub gathers guides, lore, bugs and their fixes, and fact files on 256 ships and 90 systems. The FTSC acts directly in game. You learn on Beacon Mag, and the FTSC has your back in the ’verse: nobody is left alone in the void.

An SOS button, right on the home page

On the Beacon Mag home page, a red SOS button now sits next to “Read the news” and “Events”. It opens the FTSC page: its volunteers, their roles, the 21 RP training tracks, its partners and its ambassadors. Ship broken down, injured far from anywhere or just arrived in the ’verse?

1. Click SOS · Ask for help: it opens the official FTSC Discord, where volunteers coordinate.
2. Say where you are and what you need: rescue, medical care, repairs, an escort or just a helping hand.
3. An available volunteer takes over, in game or on voice, and stays with you until everything is fine.

Partners and ambassadors

The FTSC can count on Beacon Mag, its partner, and on its ambassadors: V3LIA, Dealoc, Verveine, kÿuness_, Hugo Lisoir, [P42] Thernos, Commander-Fran, Daium, [ADB] Stanbatros and GautSlayer. Thank you for flying the centre’s colours.

What doesn’t change

• The FTSC stays free, volunteer-run and open to all, whatever your group or organisation.
• Beacon Mag stays independent: no Google Ads, no advertising cookies, no tracking, and no data sold.
• Calls for help still go through the FTSC Discord.
