Free-fire zones inside Pyro’s stations: keycards, fuses and doors to collect compboards and rare loot.

Contested zones are lawless combat areas, players against players and NPCs, inside Pyro’s stations: Checkmate, Orbituary and Ruin Station. Behind fuse doors, red keycard doors, blue keycard doors and timer doors are crates of rare weapons and armour, and above all the 7 compboards that open the executive hangars.

For a beginner it is an obstacle course: you need fuses and keycards before going in, you need to know the door order, and you must not lose what you carry when you die. This guide gives the walkthrough, station by station.

Schematic map: the order of the steps is exact, distances are not.

The route

  1. 🏭 PYAM-SUPVISR-3-4 / 3-5 (Pyro III) : Print the red (supervisor) keycards. 30 min cooldown per printer.
  2. 🛰️ Checkmate (Pyro) : Blue keycards (4 printers), compboard 1, then 2 and 3 in the zone hangar.
  3. 🛰️ Orbituary (Pyro) : Compboard 4, then 7 in the zone hangar (fuse, red and blue doors).
  4. 🛰️ Ruin Station (Ghost Arena) : Crypt keycards, then the Vault through the timer door: compboards 5 and 6.
  5. 🛰️ Safe station (Pyro) : Store the compboards and resupply.
  6. 🛬 Executive hangar (PYAM-EXHANG-0-1) : Insert the 7 compboards: see the executive hangars guide.

🔑 Requirements

  • Being in Pyro (no reputation needed)
  • Fuses (red boxes near doors, or bought)
  • Red (supervisor) and blue (security) keycards
  • Accepting player combat

🚀 Recommended ships

🧰 Recommended equipment

  • Medium or heavy armour, two weapons
  • Fuses and a multitool with a tractor head
  • Healing and ammo
  • A backpack to store keycards and compboards

🧭 Steps

  1. Set your respawn : Register at a nearby station (Checkmate or Orbituary) to get back quickly after dying.
  2. Red keycards : Print them at PYAM-SUPVISR-3-4 or 3-5 (Pyro III): climb the crates to the printer room. 30 min cooldown per printer.
  3. Fuses : Take them from the red boxes near doors (they respawn), or fabricate them on a Vulture, Fortune or Reclaimer.
  4. Checkmate : Print blue keycards (4 printers), take compboard 1, then 2 and 3 in the zone hangar.
  5. Orbituary : Compboard 4 behind a fuse, a red keycard and a fuse; compboard 7 in the hangar, behind two blue doors.
  6. Ruin Station : Print the Crypt keycard, go through the timer door (open 1 min every 20 min): compboards 5 and 6 in the Vault.
  7. Stash them : Store the compboards in your backpack, then head to the executive hangar when the timer allows.

💡 Advanced tips

  • Stock up on blue keycards at Checkmate, it is the easiest
  • Close fuse doors behind you from the left-hand panel
  • If the “Insert fuse” prompt does not show, rotate the fuse with the tractor beam, arrow pointing down
  • Note when you used each printer (30 min)
  • Go as a group: one opens, one covers

⚠️ Common mistakes

  • Going in without fuses or keycards
  • Holding compboards in your hands instead of storing them
  • Missing the Ruin Station timer door opening
  • Leaving a door open behind you

☠️ Risks

  • Hostile players everywhere (lawless area)
  • Losing keycards and compboards if you die
  • Doors closing behind you
  • Heavily armed NPCs

💰 Profitability

Very good: rare weapons and armour, components, and above all the compboards that lead to a ship. Time spent and the risk of losing everything are high.

❓ FAQ

Where are the contested zones?
In Pyro’s stations: Checkmate, Orbituary and Ruin Station (Ghost Arena).

Where are the red keycards?
At the printers of PYAM-SUPVISR-3-4 and 3-5, around Pyro III. They do not show up in star map search: look for them manually.

What are compboards for?
Insert them in a PYAM executive hangar to claim a ship: see our dedicated guide.

Can I go solo?
Yes, but it is very risky: as a group, one player opens doors while the others cover.
