Star Citizen guide #11: FPS, surviving your first bunker

Bunkers are underground facilities where you’re sent to clear, defend or recover something. They’re the gateway to on-foot combat, well paid, with loot on top.
Recommended gear
- Medium armor: the best balance between protection and mobility. Heavy armor protects more but slows you down.
- A versatile assault rifle as your main weapon, a sidearm as backup, and several magazines (make sure they’re actually in your armor pockets).
- 3 or 4 MedPens (Hemozal), essential to heal and get back up.
- A backpack, to bring the loot home.
Understanding the enemies
- At the entrance of some bunkers, guards and security turrets are on your side. Don’t shoot them: you’d get a CrimeStat and the whole base would turn on you.
- Enemies get a red marker once you spot them. Always check before firing.
- The AI takes cover, moves around and can flank you. Advance room by room, lean to check corners, and don’t run down corridors.
Smart looting
- Once the area is clear, search bodies and crates: weapons, armor, ammo, MedPens.
- Prioritize what’s valuable and light: weapons, good-quality armor pieces.
- Since Alpha 4.10, weapon caches hold much more gear, and medical crates can contain MedGel.
Selling your gear
- Some item shops buy back weapons, armor and components. The sell kiosk shows what’s accepted and at what price.
- Not every shop buys everything: ask the community, the selling spots change with patches.
- Keep the best for yourself: a good piece of looted armor is sometimes worth more than its resale.
💡 Beacon tip: set your respawn point at a clinic near the bunker. If you go down, you’ll be back for your gear quickly.
