It’s one of the most moving stories in the Star Citizen universe. To understand it, remember that the Tevarin lost their homeworld, Kaleeth (now Elysium IV), to humanity after the First Tevarin War (2542-2546).
⚔️ The warlord returns
In 2603, the warlord Corath’Thal returns with a rebuilt Tevarin fleet. His goal: retake Elysium IV. This is the start of the Second Tevarin War.
🔥 The last charge (24 June 2610)
At the Battle of Centauri, the Navy’s 42nd Squadron crushes his forces. His fleet destroyed or forced to surrender, Corath’Thal gathers his last loyal pilots for a desperate run at Elysium IV. They lose another 70% of their number, but reach the planet’s atmosphere.
There, they lower their thermal shields and dive. The fleet burns up on entry. Human communication devices record Corath’Thal’s last words:
“We die at home, and we die free.”
🖼️ Tears of Fire
The scene is immortalised in the painting Tears of Fire. On Elysium IV, renamed Jalan, some of the oldest Tevarin structures survived both wars, a few of them in the capital, Gemma.
🎖️ The 42nd Squadron of the Battle of Centauri is the famous Squadron 42, which gives Star Citizen’s single-player campaign its name.
