Star Citizen planet: Monox (Pyro II), the hollowed-out world

An empty husk… not quite. Monox owes its nickname to the carbon monoxide poisoning its atmosphere. Early surveys found cadmium, titanium and gravity-forged gemstones there: the rush that followed stripped almost everything within five years.

☀️ The Pyro system in brief. A “flare” star that can change brightness within minutes and sweep the system with radiation. The Pyrotechnic Amalgamated company mined it from 2493 to 2563, then abandoned everything. Gangs moved into its deserted stations: today in Pyro, whoever has the most guns makes the law. Open to players since Alpha 4.0.0 (December 2024).

📜 Its history

The old mines left scars everywhere. Outlaws settled there as early as the 26th century. But Monox may not be finished yet: a recent reassessment suggests it could still hold resources. And at CitizenCon 2954 (in the game’s universe), we learned that a species of giant sandworms, the Valakkar, lives on the planet.
