Orbital map of the Baker system

A binary system that fascinates scientists but leaves settlers cold. The layout of its planets makes terraforming impossible: the sparse population lives mostly on Xenia, a Covalex shipping hub near Baker III. That isolation has made it a playground for underground racing, the best known being the Able Baker Challenge.

🪐 Its worlds, from the star outwards

Baker I (iron planet)

A small iron planet whose orbit is decaying towards the stars: it should collide with Baker A in about 150 million years.

Baker II (smog planet)

Its atmosphere is so toxic and corrosive that it dissolves most modern hulls and building materials. Approaching it is risky.

Baker III (ice giant)

An ice giant whose radius is expanding. Navigation authorities rate it hazardous and advise civilians not to land.

Baker IV (rocky planet)

An airless planet with almost no landmarks apart from Shubin Interstellar’s GIO outpost, which runs its mining operations across the planet.

☄️ Belts, clusters and stations

  • Covalex Shipping Hub Xenia (space station): Covalex’s station is a major cargo hub for goods heading across the Empire, and houses most of the system’s permanent population.
