Orbital map of the Kallis system

Kallis is a system whose planets are still forming. It harbours no life, but the Fair Chance Act protects it so researchers can watch a system being born first-hand.

🪐 Its worlds, from the star outwards

Kallis I (protoplanet)

A small mass thought to be developing into a protoplanet.
🛡️ protected by the Fair Chance Act

Kallis II (rocky planet)

A rocky world forming between two belts, sharing an orbit with Kallis III.
🛡️ protected by the Fair Chance Act

Kallis III (rocky planet)

It shares Kallis II’s orbit: scientists are watching to see which one will absorb the other.
🛡️ protected by the Fair Chance Act

Kallis IV (rocky planet)

A volcanic world that appears to be forming an atmosphere. Researchers follow it closely from platforms and drones, hoping it will reveal how Earth formed.
🛡️ protected by the Fair Chance Act

Kallis V (rocky planet)

An airless rocky planet circled by a debris disc born of a huge impact. The disc may one day form a moon.
🛡️ protected by the Fair Chance Act

Kallis VI (carbon planet)

A carbon planet still early in its formation.
🛡️ protected by the Fair Chance Act

Kallis VII (gas giant)

A budding gas giant, watched closely to study how storms form.
🛡️ protected by the Fair Chance Act

Kallis VIII (ice giant)

An ice giant made of heavier elements than usual: it probably formed near the star before being scattered outward.
🛡️ protected by the Fair Chance Act

Kallis IX (dwarf planet)

An icy dwarf planet with active cryovolcanoes spewing freezing magma into an ammonia-rich atmosphere.
🛡️ protected by the Fair Chance Act

☄️ Belts, clusters and stations

  • Kallis Belt Alpha (asteroid belt): A very restless belt: forming planets pull asteroids out of their orbits. Hazardous to cross.
  • Kallis Belt Beta (asteroid belt): Mostly dust and small asteroids, possibly left over from the formation of Kallis II and III.
  • OB Station Gryphon (space station): OB Station Gryphon, the observation post for scientists studying the system.
