Star Citizen ship: Esperia Talon Shrike, light fighter

The Talon is Esperia’s recreation of the Tevarin fighter: the Tevarin equivalent of the Aegis Gladius or the Vanduul Blade. It embodies the Tevarin way of building ships: very agile, with powerful directional “Phalanx” shields but weak armour, because the Tevarin struck first and hard, then covered their escape behind their shields. The Shrike is the missile-boat variant.

📜 Its history

The Talon was born a century before the First Tevarin War to escort merchant convoys. During the war it became a feared attack fighter, and its missile-carrying Shrike version scored a string of successes against human supply lines. With no conventional canopy, it unsettled human pilots, who nicknamed it “blinder” or “specter”. In the Second War, the Gladius and better human sensors got the better of it, and the last ones were scrapped for their alloys. To recreate it, Esperia only had three incomplete hulls found on Kabal III: it was thanks to engineer and historian Jeremy McHale and the Project Home charity that an intact cockpit was finally recovered from an old battlefield.
