The Starfarer is a dedicated fuel platform: it stores and protects fuel, collects gases in space and refines them without landing. It can also ferry cargo pods; the listed capacity only covers the dedicated cargo room.

📜 Its history

The Starfarer came from an 18-month survey of space travel, summed up in a 15,000-page study, which concluded that pilots needed a ship able to collect, refine, store and distribute fuel in flight. Development began in 2870. Before it, the job fell to huge, dangerous and inefficient supertankers; pirates even said a ship caught refuelling could be captured intact, as no captain would risk a firefight. Safer and simpler, the Starfarer became the standard for space refuelling.
