What if, instead of transforming planets, we built one? That’s the crazy bet of Synthworld, humanity’s first artificial planet.

💡 An idea born of a tragedy

After the massacre of Garron II, the Empire grew wary of terraforming. Imperator Corbyn Salehi and the Clarke Committee imagined what came next: Project Archangel, building an entire planet from scratch.

🏗️ The project of the century… and then some

  • The chosen site: the Chronos system, discovered around 2862, with two dead, resource-poor worlds, Bruder and Schwester. Synthworld will be its third planet.
  • Archangel station, in orbit, houses the scientists and engineers and takes in the project’s materials.
  • Salehi died in 2922. His successors carried on with the project, with limited success.

💸 The money pit

Synthworld swallows a considerable share of the imperial budget, and its critics denounce its cost and lack of transparency. The “Kanis Caper” scandal, a misappropriation of funds by foreman Ellie Kanis, didn’t help. As of 2950, the planet is still under construction.

😏 A giant, very expensive project, still in development and eagerly awaited by everyone… Remind you of anything?
