Caliban is a former UEE system lost to the Vanduul. The Fall of Caliban in 2884 is famous as the last time a Vanduul Kingship entered UEE space before the Battle of Vega II in 2945. It also saw the Lost Squad’s last stand against overwhelming odds. Over six decades later, its worlds remain a feast for roaming Vanduul clans. See our Vanduul fact file.

🪐 Its worlds, from the star outwards
Caliban I (rocky planet)
A small coreless world mined of all its resources.
Caliban II · Crion (rocky planet)
Crion, a small terraformed world once home to millions of humans. Vanduul harvesters now chew through what’s left of their civilisation.
👥 inhabited
Its moon:
- Caliban 2a: A dusty yellow moon with unusual craters. Their study was halted when the Vanduul took the system.
Caliban III (desert planet)
A desert being terraformed when the Vanduul arrived. The machinery crashed into the planet, which is slowly reverting to its original form.
Its moons:
- Caliban 3a: As large as a protoplanet, but not massive enough to be round.
- Caliban 3b: Porous and potato-shaped, probably captured from the nearby belt.
Caliban IV (gas giant)
A grey-green gas giant with clouds of silicate and iron.
Its moons:
- Caliban 4a: A very old, dense ball of iron.
- Caliban 4b: A slight magnetic field hints at a metallic core.
- Caliban 4c: Dark reddish-brown and iron-rich, streaked with white silicates.
- Caliban 4d: Entirely covered by a frozen, brackish sea.
- Caliban 4e: Nitrogen-ice storms so violent that even the Vanduul won’t try to harvest it.
- Caliban 4f: Tholins, silicate rock and carbon make it reflect very little light.
Caliban V (protoplanet)
An airless protoplanet.
☄️ Belts, clusters and stations
- Caliban Belt Alpha (asteroid belt): Many believe, without proof, that Vanduul clans have picked it clean.
