Caves, forgotten wrecks, frozen moons, distant systems: exploration is the freest way to play Star Citizen. You just need to head out well prepared.

Preparing your expedition

  • The ship: one with a bed (to log off on the way), enough fuel and a bit of cargo space. Ideally, a medical bed to respawn on site.
  • Fuel: fill up on hydrogen and quantum fuel before leaving. Note the stations along your route.
  • Personal gear: armor suited to the temperature, helmet, MedPens, multitool with tractor beam, a flashlight.
  • Supplies: something to drink and eat. Hunger and thirst eventually slow you down.

Managing your resources

  • Watch your consumption: since Alpha 4.10, hydrogen tanks are smaller (but so is consumption), and fuel costs more.
  • Always keep enough to get back: turn around when your quantum fuel drops below half of what you need to return.
  • Bring a few spare parts and fuses, to repair without a station.

Long trips

  • Log off in your ship’s bed to resume the expedition next session.
  • Go as a group into dangerous areas: a lone explorer in Pyro is a target.
  • Note your discoveries (coordinates, screenshots): share them on the forum, the community loves it!

Where to explore

  • The caves on Stanton’s moons, for gems and atmosphere.
  • Wrecks and ship graveyards, for loot and salvage.
  • Pyro and Nyx, for wide open spaces that are still quiet.

💡 Beacon tip: your best expedition screenshots belong on the Beacon Mag forum: open a topic in this section and tell us about your trip.
