Star Citizen ship: Drake Cutlass Red, medical

The Cutlass Red turns the hold into a medical bay with two medical beds, a long-range scanner and a secure docking collar: a space ambulance for search and rescue, with light bars and a red livery.

📜 Its history

The Cutlass was first designed for the UEE’s 2845 “volksfighter” tender: a cheap, configurable fighter to quickly equip distant home defence squadrons. It lost to the now-forgotten Wildcat, and Jan Dredge’s team repurposed it for civilians, aiming at private militias. Sales were phenomenal: within nine months Drake opened six factories and dealerships in nine systems, and within five years it was the Empire’s fifth largest shipbuilder. But around 2900, outlaws were the ones buying it by the thousands: cheap, easy to replace, with a big hold and endless customisation, the Cutlass ended up redefining the very image of the pirate.
